Hull City fans are the baldest in the Premier League, according to a survey by Freebets.com. The research found that 41.7% of Hull City supporters reported being either bald or balding, the highest rate among all 20 top-flight clubs.
Northern Clubs Dominate Baldness Table
Sunderland fans came second with 39.8%, followed by Newcastle United with 38.2% and Leeds United with 36.5%. All four clubs are based in the north of England.
The survey, which polled 2,000 matchday-going Premier League fans, revealed a clear geographical pattern. Dominic Celica, Head of PR at Freebets.com, said: "The pattern was hard to miss: the further north you go, the less hair you’ll find in the stands. Hull City fans have gone from the Tigers to the shiniest support in the country."
London Clubs Have Fullest Heads
At the other end of the table, Chelsea fans have the fullest heads of hair, with just 13.8% of supporters bald or balding. Fulham fans were close behind in 19th place with 15.2%, indicating London clubs are least likely to have bald supporters.
Celica added: "With over four in ten telling us they’re bald or balding, the MKM Stadium must be a nightmare on a sunny afternoon."
Hull City's Promotion and Coyle's Emotional Interview
The news comes as Hull City prepare for their return to the Premier League after a nine-year absence. Last season, they secured promotion via the Championship play-off final, with Oli McBurnie scoring the decisive goal.
After the match, captain Lewie Coyle gave an emotional interview to Sky Sports, during which he used profanity while honouring his late father, who died four years previously at the age of 59. Sky Sports later apologised for the language.
Coyle said: "It's tough. There's just one man I want to celebrate this with. He's not with us. I look up at the sky and I had a look up there today. He's with me, I know he's with me, for sure."
He continued: "I don't think there's many people that thought I could captain a side to the Premier League and even saying that out loud sounds a little bit wild. I'm just an honest, humble kid. But there's certainly one man that would have believed in me and that's my old man - and that's all I told myself throughout the game."
Coyle apologised for the swear word, explaining: "He would've been saying, 'You can do it, son, f*** them'. I know I swore and I shouldn't, I apologise, but I had to get it in there because that's how my old man spoke."
