Nana Kwaku Bonsam, the Ghanaian witch doctor who claimed to have cursed England captain Harry Kane during the World Cup, is now asserting that he predicted Paraguay's stunning penalty shootout victory over Germany.
Paraguay's Shock Win Over Germany
Paraguay knocked four-time champions Germany out of the World Cup in the early hours of Tuesday morning, winning on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Julio Enciso opened the scoring, with Kai Havertz equalizing for Germany. The Germans then faltered in the shootout, crashing out in the Round of 32.
Following the match, social media posts on X claimed that Bonsam had forecast Paraguay's success. However, there is no verifiable evidence to support these claims, despite the posts going viral.
Bonsam's Previous Claims
Bonsam had earlier gained notoriety when he said he "binded" Kane to prevent him from scoring against Ghana during their group stage match, which ended in a 0-0 draw. After the match, Bonsam posted: "I am the most powerful spiritualist in the world. I am now going to release Harry Kane so that he can score in England’s next match." He joked that Kane "shouldn't be offended" and that they are "friends."
Bonsam thanks his ancestors and claims his magic comes from the Kofi Oo Kofi shrine. He proclaims himself as "Africa’s only authentic man" and offers rituals, guidance, spiritual healing, and protection.
History of Football-Related Claims
This is not the first time Bonsam has used his powers in football. In 2014, he claimed responsibility for a knee injury that threatened Cristiano Ronaldo’s participation in the World Cup ahead of Portugal's match against Ghana. At the time, Bonsam said: "I know what Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury is about, I’m working on him. I am very serious about it. Last week, I went around looking for four dogs and I got them to be used in manufacturing a special spirit called Kahwiri Kapam. I said it four months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo seriously and rule him out of the World Cup or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana and the best thing I can do is to keep him out through injury. This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, next day it is something else."
