Liverpool have seen a significant turnover in their squad in recent transfer windows, with 32 players departing Anfield. Express Sport has reviewed the archives to track where these former Reds are now.

Early Departures and Academy Graduates

Sadio Mane was one of the first big names to leave, joining Bayern Munich. He spent just one year in Bavaria before heading to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, where he has remained since 2023.

Neco Williams, a product of the Liverpool academy, joined Nottingham Forest following their promotion to the Premier League. He has established himself as the starting right-back for Forest.

Takumi Minamino, who joined Liverpool with much promise in 2020, has been able to reclaim his career at Monaco, where he remains to this day.

Marko Grujic officially left for Porto in the 2022/23 summer transfer window, staying at the Portuguese outfit until 2025. He went on to play for AEK Athens and then Levski Sofia.

Ben Davies joined Rangers and stayed there until 2026, signing for Bolton Wanderers this summer. Sheyi Ojo, once dubbed as the next big thing, eventually joined Cardiff City after a series of loan spells. He has since played for Maribor in Slovenia and Aktobe in Kazakhstan.

Ben Woodburn, following the expiration of his Liverpool contract, joined Preston North End, where he stayed until signing for Salford City in 2024.

Goalkeepers and Midfielders

Loris Karius, most known for his blunder in the 2018 Champions League final, first joined Newcastle United after leaving Liverpool. He remained on the books there for two years before joining Schalke 04 in 2025.

Fabinho was the most high-profile exit in the 2023/24 summer transfer window, joining Al-Ittihad as part of a bumper deal. He has since joined Trabzonspor.

Jordan Henderson, who had captained Liverpool to the Premier League title, moved to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Ettifaq, but left for Ajax not long after. A stint at Brentford followed, before he signed for Chelsea.

Naby Keita left Liverpool for Werder Bremen, but his time with the German club ended in disaster. He later signed for Ferencvaros, initially on loan and then on a permanent deal.

James Milner, now the record holder for the most Premier League appearances, left Liverpool for Brighton, where he remained until last season.

Roberto Firmino was one of the best success stories in the Saudi Pro League, scoring 21 goals in 65 matches after a free transfer exit. He then joined Al Sadd in Qatar last year.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose career was blighted by injuries, made the move to Besiktas in Turkey after leaving the Reds. He now plays for Celtic in Scotland.

Defenders and Recent Exits

Sepp van den Berg, one of two big exits to Brentford, didn't make a single league appearance for Liverpool before joining the Bees. Fabio Carvalho also joined Brentford in the same summer and remains at the west London outfit.

Marcelo Pitaluga, after loan moves at Macclesfield, St. Patrick's Athletic, and Livingston, joined Fluminense in 2025. Adrian, part of the 2019 Champions League-winning side, joined Real Betis upon his departure.

Joel Matip retired following the expiration of his contract, as did Thiago Alcantara, who hung up his boots in 2024.

The 2025/26 summer window was a busy one for Liverpool, with eight senior players leaving. Luis Diaz penned a big-money switch to Bayern Munich, where he remains to this day.

Darwin Nunez waved the Anfield faithful goodbye just three years after joining the club. He joined Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, but has since gone on loan to Diriyah Club.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was by far the most high-profile exit, joining Real Madrid. It had looked as if he were going to leave on a free transfer, but Los Blancos paid a small fee so that they could have him in time for the 2025 Club World Cup.

Jarrel Quansah signed for Bayer Leverkusen after finding minutes hard to come by in Merseyside. Such has been his impressive performances, Quansah is a regular in the England team and has been linked with a return to Liverpool.

Caoimhin Kelleher made the leap to become Brentford's first-choice goalkeeper in 2025. Tyler Morton swapped Liverpool for Lyon and has blossomed with the French outfit.

Nat Phillips dropped down to the Championship with West Bromwich Albion following a series of loans away from Liverpool.

Curtis Jones left his boyhood club to sign for Inter Milan in Italy after a drawn-out transfer saga. Stefan Bajcetic, who had been tipped for big things before picking up a serious injury, left Liverpool this summer for Celta Vigo.

Rhys Williams remains without a club, having seen his contract expire at the end of the 2025/26 season. Andrew Robertson remained in the Premier League, joining struggling Tottenham Hotspur on a free contract.

Ibrahima Konate became the second Liverpool player in successive summers to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
