Manchester City will not bank any prize money from their Community Shield clash with Arsenal on Sunday, even if they win. Instead, the club would only enjoy lifting another trophy — the first of Enzo Maresca's reign.
Where the money goes
Both the winners and runners-up of the Community Shield will see the money raised from their clash go to charity and other areas of the English football pyramid. Sponsorships, TV revenue and money from ticket sales all count towards these funds.
What is the Community Shield?
The annual game takes place ahead of the upcoming Premier League season and is between the current league champions and the FA Cup winners. If both trophies are won by the same club, then the Premier League runners-up will take part in the fixture.
When and where
The game between City and Arsenal takes place on Sunday, August 16 at the Principality Stadium in Wales. Kick off has been confirmed for 3pm. Fans can watch the game live on TNT Sports via HBO Max or Prime Video's HBO Max channel.
