Bournemouth gutted after Alex Scott injury on England duty

Bournemouth are gutted that Alex Scott was allowed to play in England's 7-0 win in Croatia, with the midfielder now expected to miss around two months of action after aggravating a quadricep injury.

Standard Sport understands the Cherries are disappointed the 23-year-old started in Rijeka in Saturday's Nations League match.

Played through the pain barrier

Scott lasted 70 minutes before being replaced by James Garner, though there was no indication at the time that the substitution was due to injury.

It is understood that Scott was carrying the quad injury before the game but played through the pain barrier and delivered a much-lauded performance on the occasion of his first senior England start.

Two months sidelined

But he on Monday morning returned to Bournemouth for assessment on the injury which is expected to see him sidelined for two months and therefore miss England's Nations League double-header next month against Croatia and Spain.

Scott remains a player of interest to Chelsea, but injury will now disrupt his season and rule him out of Bournemouth's visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Treatment table

Scott joins Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi on the treatment table after he underwent surgery on a foot injury in July.

Despite making 95 appearances for Bournemouth since signing from Bristol City in 2023, Scott has enjoyed a breakthrough year and attracted strong interest from Chelsea over the summer, when the Blues saw multiple bids to sign the midfielder rejected.
