Amad Diallo calls Man Utd's Atletico defeat a 'disgrace'

Amad Diallo labelled Manchester United's defeat to Atletico Madrid as a "f****** disgrace" after the Red Devils lost 2-0 in the Champions League. The winger shared the six-word verdict on his verified Snapchat account, adding "I have no words."

Amad's frustration after late cameo

The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international started the match in Madrid on the bench and was brought on during the second half to replace Marcus Rashford. Less than 10 minutes after his introduction, United saw Leny Yoro sent off, with the team already trailing 1-0. Ademola Lookman then doubled Atletico's lead, ending any hopes of a United comeback.

Amad was not the only player to express frustration after the final whistle.

Martinez hits out at club hierarchy

United defender Lisandro Martinez criticised the club's hierarchy, including technical director Jason Wilcox, over the summer transfer window at Old Trafford.

"I have to control myself a lot. But sometimes it's a reflection of how our club is at the moment, you know?" Martinez said. "We had a fantastic season last season, and now we expect more from the top, from above, you know, to bring more players to compete, because many, many teams bring many players in as well, and today also, Atletico have an amazing team, and they deserved to win today."

Martinez reiterated: "I expected more, honestly. I expected more." He then turned his attention to Wilcox, saying: "I expected more from our technical director. I have to be honest, you know? And also, as players, we have to do more, but it's also important when you make a strong squad to be ready for these kinds of nights."

Carrick responds to Martinez comments

When asked about Michael Carrick, Martinez added: "He does his best. But every season is different. You cannot say what you did last season. The teams know how you play, the teams know every detail, you know? And if you don't change, next season is a big problem. You cannot keep changing managers. What about other areas? I can't say more."

In his post-match press conference, Carrick responded to Martinez's comments: "I need to find out a bit more about it before I can say if and what is going to be done. I really can't comment any further because I haven't seen it."
