Canada earned their first ever World Cup point with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina, following a star-studded opening ceremony at Toronto Stadium. The event featured performances by Michael Bublé and Alanis Morissette, among others, as part of the tournament's second opening ceremony.
Ceremony Highlights
The ceremony began with Indigenous performers, followed by Alessia Cara singing amid puppet representations of native Canadian animals. Sanjoy, Nora Fatehi, and Vegedream then took the stage, before Elyanna and Jessie Reyez closed the first part. After a break, flag bearers participated in the parade of nations, and Michael Bublé performed. Alanis Morissette sang the Canadian national anthem, and the ceremony concluded with a flyover by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.

Midway through the first half, Jovo Lukic headed Bosnia and Herzegovina into the lead. Canada pushed for an equalizer, hitting the crossbar early in the second half. Just two minutes after coming on, Cyle Larin scored to level the match, sending Canadian fans into rapture. The game ended 1-1, with Bosnia and Herzegovina fans disappointed at dropping points from a winning position.
