Tyson Fury has confirmed he still intends to fight Oleksandr Usyk, despite the World Boxing Association ordering Usyk to face Daniel Dubois. Dubois, the WBA regular heavyweight champion, has been named mandatory challenger for Usyk's WBA super belt, which would also be a unification bout.
Fury's promoter Frank Warren, who also represents Dubois, has indicated that Dubois would step aside to allow Fury to face Usyk. However, if Usyk chooses Dubois over Fury, the 'Gypsy King' could fight Joe Joyce next year.
Fury plans to fight Usyk at the end of February in the first of two bouts in 2023. He expressed confidence in beating Usyk, citing a six-inch height advantage. 'There's no man born who can beat me,' Fury told iFL TV. 'I'd like to get him in there in February, make an example of him and then give him a rematch at Wembley.'
Usyk's promoter Alexander Krassyuk revealed the fight is targeted for a date between February 18 and March 4 in the Middle East, likely Saudi Arabia. Fury also aims to reclaim The Ring heavyweight title, which he vacated earlier this year.
