Tyson Fury Targets Comeback Fight Within Three Months, Responds to 'Fat' Claims
Tyson Fury plans boxing return in next three months

The heavyweight boxing world is set for a seismic shift as former two-time world champion Tyson Fury confirms plans for a dramatic ring return. The 'Gypsy King', who announced his retirement in January 2025, is now targeting a comeback fight within the next three months.

Fury Fires Back at Physique Critics

Currently training in Thailand alongside WBC bridgerweight champion Kevin Lerena, the 37-year-old Briton has faced a wave of social media commentary about his physical condition. Fury addressed these remarks head-on in a candid Instagram post on Friday morning.

"I've read a few comments that I am looking a bit hench. Chubby. Fat. Well, welcome to my world," Fury stated. He pointed out his history of success regardless of weight, adding, "Beat everybody with a fat belly. Never been any different." Fury revealed he currently weighs around 20 stone but aims to get under 19 stone for his return, aiming to be "nice and loose and fast".

"It's Not About the Money" - Fury's Motivation

In a separate social media declaration, Fury strongly denied that financial gain from influential figures like Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh was driving his decision to fight again. "I have literally won everything... for me, there is nothing else other than the fight game. I love this fight game. There is nothing in it for financial gain," he asserted.

Fury, who turns 38 this year, emphasised his lifelong passion for combat. "I could have retired 10 years ago. I've made an absolute fortune. It's not about the money... It's mainly about the love of the fight game and the sport," he explained, describing fighting as his destiny despite the physical toll it may ultimately take.

Potential Opponent and Promoter's Backing

The plan is for Fury to have a fight in the coming months before pursuing a major summer showdown. A leading candidate for his return opponent is the towering 6'6" heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov, who last fought in October 2025, defeating Britain's David Allen.

Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, has publicly backed this potential match-up. Speaking to Box Nation, Warren said, "He's a very intelligent guy. He knows what he wants to do and how to get there... Maybe, we may do that [Makhmudov fight]." This would mark Fury's first bout in over a year, a significant layoff for a fighter of his age.

Fury himself acknowledged the challenge, stating, "Had a year out, and if I box in the first quarter, could be out up to 16 months in the ring, so yeah, it's a long time for a 37-year-old man... Let's see if I have still got it." With his training camp intensifying and a potential opponent lined up, the stage is being set for the next chapter in the Gypsy King's tumultuous and thrilling career.
