Anthony Joshua Weighs In 26.8lbs Heavier Than Jake Paul for Miami Bout
Joshua vs Paul: Huge Weight Disadvantage for YouTuber

Anthony Joshua will enter the ring with a substantial size advantage over Jake Paul after the official weigh-in for their heavily debated professional fight in Miami.

Scale Showdown Reveals Major Discrepancy

The former two-time world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, tipped the scales at 243.4lbs (17 stone 5lbs) during Thursday's ceremony. This was comfortably under his 245lbs contractual limit and notably lighter than the 252.5lbs he recorded for his last bout against Daniel Dubois in September 2024.

In stark contrast, YouTube sensation turned boxer Jake Paul came in at 216.6lbs (15 stone 6lbs). This creates a significant 26.8lbs (almost two stone) weight difference between the two fighters ahead of their eight-round contest.

A Criticised Clash Goes Ahead

The fight, scheduled for Friday night at the Kaseya Center in Miami, will be contested over eight three-minute rounds with regulation 10oz gloves. The match-up has been met with considerable backlash from boxing purists.

Much of the criticism stems from Jake Paul's 13-fight professional record, which has largely been built against former UFC stars or ageing boxing legends. Anthony Joshua's decision to participate in this crossover event has further fuelled scepticism within the sport.

What the Weight Gap Means for the Fight

The nearly 27-pound disparity underscores the physical mismatch between an elite-level heavyweight champion and a cruiserweight contender. While Paul has regularly competed at cruiserweight since transitioning from social media influencing, he now faces one of the most formidable punchers of the modern era.

Thursday's weigh-in, a key pre-fight ritual, has done little to quieten the doubters who question the legitimacy and competitive balance of this high-profile event. All eyes will now be on whether Paul's speed and conditioning can overcome Joshua's clear power and size advantage when they meet in the ring.
