Controversial internet personality and former kickboxing world champion Andrew Tate has given fans a preview of his boxing prowess, but the reaction has been sharply divided. Tate held an open workout in Dubai ahead of his professional boxing debut this Saturday night against reigning Misfits heavyweight champion Chase DeMoor.
Open Workout Draws Mixed Reviews
The 39-year-old Tate, who last fought professionally five years ago in kickboxing, took to the ring for a public training session. Broadcast to a global audience, he demonstrated footwork and pad work, appearing light and quick. Notably, he also threw several kicks, reminding onlookers of his combat sports roots. Tate, who faces ongoing criminal charges in the UK including rape – allegations he denies – also showed off sharp punches from a southpaw stance.
Despite receiving praise from the official Misfits commentary team, the fan verdict on social media was far less complimentary. One observer questioned, "Why are his kicks better than his punches?" Another was blunt, stating "He looks s***!" A common theme was a belief that his opponent, Chase DeMoor, would emerge victorious. "Chase is going to smash him clean out," wrote one supporter, while another declared simply, "Top G is in trouble." Criticisms of his speed were also levied, with a fan commenting that he looked slow.
Tate Confident Ahead of Misfits Debut
For his part, Andrew Tate expressed nothing but excitement and confidence in the lead-up to the fight. He revealed his training camp had been surprisingly smooth, especially compared to his kickboxing days. "I have not hurt my knees, my ankles and all that kinds of things," Tate said. He emphasised his lifelong identity as a fighter, having competed in MMA, Muay Thai, and K1 rulesets, and stated he is a natural puncher looking forward to the boxing match.
"The camp went so much better than I could have imagined," Tate claimed. "If I could have seen the camp in advance before I did it, I would have been so pleasantly surprised. Camp has been fantastic and I feel amazing." He described the fight as a fantastic singular focus and said he was blessed to have the opportunity to perform in front of so many people.
DeMoor's Tense Showcase
His opponent, Chase DeMoor, followed Tate in the open workout but began by trading verbal barbs with the former kickboxer, shouting across at him from the ring. After the heated exchange, the former reality TV star settled down to display his own skills in front of the packed Dubai crowd. The fight headlines a stacked card in the Middle East and represents a major moment for the Misfits promotion, for which Tate was recently named CEO, replacing KSI.
The event marks Tate's return to combat sports after a five-year hiatus, a comeback he has teased for months with training footage. With fan opinion already split based on a brief workout, the pressure is on for both men to deliver when they finally meet in the ring this weekend.
