Conor Benn Targets WBC Title After Dominant Win Over Eubank Jr
Benn beats Eubank Jr, targets father's WBC title

Conor Benn has set his sights on winning the WBC world title after delivering a masterclass performance to defeat Chris Eubank Jr in their highly-anticipated rematch.

Redemption at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The 29-year-old boxer produced a display of remarkable composure and skill to secure a convincing victory over his rival at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday. This triumph marks a significant moment in the Benn-Eubank family feud that began back in 1990 when their fathers first fought.

Benn's disciplined approach throughout the bout proved decisive, with the Londoner dominating from start to finish and nearly securing a knockout in the final round. This victory avenges his emotional defeat to Eubank Jr back in April, where Benn admits he "beat himself" through poor mental preparation.

The WBC Dream: Following in His Father's Footsteps

Rather than pursuing an immediate trilogy fight with Eubank Jr, Benn has clear ambitions to drop back down to his natural 147lbs welterweight division and challenge for the WBC title against Mario Barrios next summer.

"Getting the WBC title, it is the belt my dad won and a belt I would love to win," Benn revealed. "That's my dream, so for me to be one up on my dad with the Eubank-Benn rivalry and also win the WBC world title, it would be some moment for me."

The young fighter described Saturday's victory as being "on par with winning a world title" given the historical significance of the generational rivalry between the two boxing families.

Learning From Past Mistakes

Benn attributed his improved performance to better mental preparation, contrasting sharply with their first encounter where he described himself as "broken" despite looking physically strong.

"A calm Conor is a better Conor," he explained, highlighting the importance of emotional control. "I had to keep my emotions at bay this time and show I can outbox the bigger man without getting drawn into a fight."

His long-term trainer Tony Sims has backed Benn to become a world champion, though public demand for a third fight with Eubank Jr remains strong. However, Benn appears determined to focus on championship ambitions rather than immediate financial rewards.

"Money always talks, doesn't it?" Benn acknowledged. "But for me and my personal reasons, how much money do you need? For me, it's let's get that world title and that will be a box ticked."
