Trent Rockets secured their maiden women's Hundred title with an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Leeds in the final at Lord's on Sunday.
Dominant bowling display
Rockets, who had qualified automatically for the final after losing just one match in the group stages, bowled Sunrisers out for 91 – the lowest total by the Leeds-based franchise in six seasons of the Hundred. Charley Phillips, a 23-year-old seamer in fine form this season, took two for 12, while Hampshire's Georgia Adams claimed two wickets, a catch and a run-out.
Put in to bat, Sunrisers lost three wickets in the powerplay, including the tournament's leading run-scorer Phoebe Litchfield, who was caught by Adams at short fine leg for just 10. Phillips then rattled Deepti Sharma's stumps, and Adams added the scalps of Annabel Sutherland and Jess Jonassen to leave Sunrisers reeling at 58 for six.
Chase completed with ease
Sophia Dunkley and Beth Mooney put on a 69-run partnership from 40 balls for the first wicket, with Dunkley falling nine runs short of a half-century. Nat Sciver-Brunt was trapped leg-before by Sutherland, but Ash Gardner's boundaries and two leg-side wides from Jonassen saw Rockets home with 46 balls to spare.
The final was one-sided, reflecting a year of low totals in the women's competition, which has felt somewhat flat after the excitement of last month's T20 World Cup.
