Infantino leaves World Cup for Qatar funeral

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has left the 2026 World Cup in the United States to travel to the Middle East for the funeral of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former ruler of Qatar who died recently.

Private jet departs Miami

Over the weekend, a private jet linked to Infantino departed Miami, shortly after England's quarter-final victory over Norway. The aircraft headed for Doha, where Infantino has been seen with other mourners paying respects to the late father of the Emir.

Infantino is expected to return to the United States within 24 hours, as the semi-finals are set to begin on Tuesday.
