A civil servant from Dundee has become an instant millionaire after winning the Omaze Monthly Millionaire Draw. Mark Crawford, 49, discovered he and his wife Clair had won the £1 million prize after returning home from work on what he described as a 'normal Friday night'. The win came from a £15 entry in the draw.
Footage shows the moment Mark was told the news. He had just completed his five-mile walk home from work when an Omaze representative knocked on his door. He immediately FaceTimed his daughter to share the news, but she initially thought he was joking. 'She said, 'You're winding me up!' – and I told my son-in-law, 'You might be getting more than socks for Christmas this year,' Mark recalled.
Mark and Clair, who have been married for 12 years, celebrated with a takeaway. Mark said the win has 'lifted such a weight' and will allow them to pay off their overdraft and stop worrying about money. They had been considering downsizing to save costs but no longer need to. The couple now plans to replace their 'rusty old campervan' with a new one and travel around the Highlands, Cornwall, and possibly Norway. They also hope to visit Japan and are considering moving closer to their daughter in London.
Mark became the October winner of the Omaze Monthly Millionaire Draw, which gives one UK winner a tax-free £1 million each month. James Oakes, President of Omaze, congratulated the couple and highlighted that the draw also raises money for good causes across the UK.
