Metropolitan Police have launched a full investigation after the tragic discovery of a 33-year-old woman's body at a flat in Westminster, central London.

Emergency services rushed to the residential address following urgent concerns for the occupant's welfare. Despite the rapid response from police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scotland Yard confirmed the death is currently being treated as unexplained pending further investigation. A police cordon remains in place around the property as forensic officers conduct their examination.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated: "We were called at approximately 12:30 PM on Tuesday to reports of concern for the welfare of a person at a residential address in Westminster. Officers attended alongside London Ambulance Service. Sadly, a 33-year-old woman was found deceased."

The spokesperson added: "Her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. The death is currently being treated as unexplained while investigations continue to establish the full circumstances."

Local residents have expressed shock at the incident in the normally quiet Westminster neighbourhood. One neighbour commented: "It's absolutely devastating to hear something like this has happened so close to home. The police presence was quite significant throughout the afternoon."

The police have appealed for anyone with information that could assist their investigation to come forward immediately. A post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course to determine the exact cause of death.
