Harriet Sperling, set to marry Peter Phillips next weekend, is being hailed as a new ally for the Princess of Wales. The 45-year-old NHS nurse shares several similarities with Kate, including a passion for fashion and childhood development.
The couple will wed on Saturday 6 June at All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire, with royal relatives including Princess Anne, King Charles and Prince William expected to attend. Phillips, 48, lives on his mother's Gatcombe Park estate and has two children from his previous marriage to Autumn, which ended in 2020.
Sperling, a trained paediatric nurse, has been welcomed into the royal fold. She attended Royal Ascot with the King and Queen last June and has been seen at other major events. Her fashion choices have sparked a 'Kate effect' moment, with a Dilli Grey dress she wore leading to an updated version after a surge in demand.
Like Kate, Sperling is a keen supporter of early childhood development. In 2010, she helped save the life of a three-week-old baby struck by a deadly virus. She is also a writer, having penned reflections on single motherhood and faith, echoing Kate's essay on human connection for the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.
The engagement was announced in August last year, with a statement confirming both families were delighted. Queen Camilla, Prince Edward and Sophie are also expected to attend the wedding.
