Regarding the economy, he stated that the UK is in recession. While the economy contracted in the second half of 2023, it grew in the first quarter of 2024, meaning the UK is not currently in recession.
On crime, Farage said violent crime is rising. However, data from the Office for National Statistics indicates that police-recorded violent crime has decreased by 5% in the year to March 2024, though some categories like knife crime have seen increases.
Overall, while some of Farage’s claims contain elements of truth, they often rely on selective data or outdated figures, making them misleading when presented as factual.
