Netflix has quietly added the British crime drama Prey to its UK catalogue, where it has quickly climbed the most-watched rankings. The ITV original, which first aired in 2014, has been praised as a gripping, action-packed series comparable to Line of Duty and Broadchurch.
The show consists of two series, each with three 45-minute episodes. It received a BAFTA Television Award nomination in the Mini Series category in 2015. The sole principal character across both series is DS Susan Reinhart, played by Rosie Cavaliero.
Series one stars John Simm as DC Marcus Farrow, a policeman on the run after being accused of murdering his wife and son. The cast also includes Anastasia Hille, Craig Parkinson, and Benedict Wong. Series two features Philip Glenister as prison officer Dave Murdoch, whose pregnant daughter is kidnapped, leading him to help an inmate escape. Supporting actors include MyAnna Buring, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Ralph Ineson, and Daniel Jillings.
Prey holds a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have described it as a 'near perfect blend of well-crafted characterizations' and 'an engrossing, dynamic series'. Viewers have called it a 'gem' with 'outstanding acting' and 'non-stop action'.
