Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate is reportedly set to leave the club this summer after failing to agree a new deal, according to Talksport. The French centre-back is out of contract next month, but had been expected to sign a new deal to keep him at Anfield. However, negotiations have broken down, and Konate will now be available on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June.
Five-Year Stint at Liverpool
Konate joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 and has made 181 appearances for the Reds over the past five years. During this period, he has won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup, while he was also part of the Liverpool team that reached the Champions League final in 2022. His departure marks the end of a successful spell at the club, where he established himself as a key defensive figure.
What's Next for Konate?
With his contract expiring, Konate is now free to negotiate with other clubs. Several European sides are reportedly interested in signing the 27-year-old defender on a free transfer. Liverpool will now look to reinforce their defensive options ahead of the new season.
