Footage has emerged showing a car involved in a fatal crash allegedly reaching 120mph on a residential road just 24 hours before the collision that killed three teenagers and a taxi driver in Bolton on Sunday.
The Instagram clip, uploaded by one of the deceased teenagers, shows the interior of a Seat Leon crashing into a private hire car. The crash killed the Seat's driver, Muhammad Danyaal, 19, and passengers Farhan Patel and Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, both 18, as well as taxi driver Masrob Ali, 54.
Ali's daughter, Humayra, described her father as a 'safe driver' and told Lancs Live: 'It's clear that my dad wasn't at fault and didn't do anything wrong.' Five others were injured, including a 29-year-old woman in the taxi who suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.
Detective Inspector Andrew Page urged people to refrain from sharing footage on social media, warning it could constitute a criminal offence. He said: 'As an investigation team we would encourage people to be mindful of sharing footage on social media given the impact this will have on all the families involved.'
Chief Inspector Helen McCormick called the incident 'devastating' and a 'tragic reminder of the importance of safety on our roads'. Police continue to appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage.
