Karine Jean-Pierre Says Two-Party System 'Not Working' in New Book

Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has said her new book aims to provide a 'road map' to moving away from the two-party system, which she claims 'is not working'. Speaking on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the former political adviser who worked under President Joe Biden accused the Democrats of having no 'teeth' or 'fight'.

Jean-Pierre described how, after leaving the administration, members of the public approached her in tears, asking why Democratic leadership was not fighting. She said her book, Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines, offers a way for people to get engaged and move forward.

In the book, Jean-Pierre opens up about her decision to leave the Democratic Party after Donald Trump took office in January this year. She wrote that she began to consider becoming an independent after witnessing the party unleashing a 'firing squad' on Biden following a disastrous TV debate against Trump.

Jean-Pierre revealed her departure from the Democratic Party in June while promoting the book, which was released on October 21. She wrote that the party had defined her life and career, but she could no longer give blind loyalty to a party she felt no longer deserved it.
