Trump's Late-Night Truth Social Posts Surge: 565 in April

President Donald Trump's activity on Truth Social has surged dramatically, with a new analysis revealing he posted 565 times in April alone—more than double his April 2018 output of 250 posts. This averages to about 18 posts per day, with roughly one-third occurring during overnight hours, according to a report by the Daily Beast.

Controversial Content and Timing

Trump's posts have stirred significant controversy. One notable example came at 2:49 a.m. on April 13, when he shared an AI-generated image depicting himself as a Jesus-like figure in a white robe, laying hands on a man in bed, surrounded by heavenly light and patriotic imagery. The post drew immediate backlash from both sides of the political aisle. Christian activist Sean Feucht, partnering with the Trump administration for America's 250th birthday events, called for its deletion, stating, "There's no context where this is acceptable." Trump later defended the post, claiming it portrayed him as a doctor associated with the Red Cross, and insisted, "I do make people better." The image was eventually deleted.

Another late-night post on April 29 at 4 a.m. featured an image of Trump holding an automatic rifle in front of explosions, accompanied by the caption "No More Mr. Nice Guy," which appeared to threaten Iran. Additionally, on the night of April 18, Trump posted six times about the 2020 election, repeating baseless claims of fraud involving undocumented migrants, despite no evidence supporting these assertions.

Patterns and Concerns

The analysis found that Trump posted more frequently on weekends, with only one weekend night (April 4) without any activity. Many posts occurred before 1 a.m. or after 7 a.m., aligning with Trump's self-described sleep schedule. However, this pattern has coincided with multiple public sightings of Trump with his eyes closed during meetings and press events, raising questions about his mental fitness. During a December cabinet meeting, he was seen closing his eyes as team members reported accomplishments. Fox News host Laura Ingraham defended him, saying, "We all know that he doesn’t sleep... if you sleep three hours or four hours a night, you’re probably going to close your eyes, whether you are 79 or 49."

It remains unclear whether Trump personally authors all posts or if some are handled by Natalie Harp, an executive assistant known to assist with his social media accounts. The White House has been contacted for comment. Spokesman Davis Ingle defended the posting spree to the Daily Beast, stating, "President Trump is the most transparent and accessible President in American history... the American people appreciate hearing his first-hand insights."
