Trump's former aide mocked for post amid nodding off

Donald Trump's former aide Jayme Leagh Franklin has sparked backlash on social media after sharing a supportive Instagram post about the president, who appeared to fall asleep during a White House event.

Franklin, a businesswoman who worked in Trump's first administration, joined him in the Oval Office on Monday (August 10) as he signed an executive order calling for fewer childhood vaccines and recommending splitting the MMR shots.

During the signing event, Trump appeared to nod off, an incident that drew comments from Franklin's Instagram followers.

Franklin's Instagram Post

Franklin shared a picture from the Oval Office, writing: "I was so honored to join President Trump in the Oval Office today for the signing of an Executive Order recognizing Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations. This is an important step toward maximizing parental choice and aligning childhood immunization recommendations with scientific evidence and best practices from peer developed countries."

She added: "As a mom, I care deeply about the health of our nation, and especially the well-being of our children. Parents deserve the freedom to make informed decisions about their children's health in consultation with their pediatricians, without government pressure or coercion."

"Parents know their children best. They should be empowered with transparent information, sound science, and the freedom to make the choices they believe are right for their families," she continued.

She concluded: "I'm grateful to President Trump and his administration for putting parents back at the center of these deeply personal decisions and for continuing to champion healthier families and a healthier America."

Social Media Reactions

While Franklin did not mention the nodding off moment, her followers commented on it. One person wrote: "A photo with him awake! Pulitzer Prize worthy." Another asked: "Did you notice when he was sleeping ? ? ? you should post the whole live lol." A third echoed: "How did you not start laughing when Donny fell asleep in the meeting?" A fourth fumed: "The unqualified, unhinged wacko slept through the whole thing."

At various points during the meeting, Trump was seen slumped in his chair and appeared to be asleep while others spoke behind him, reports the Irish Star.
