US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he will not attend the wedding of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., to Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson, citing pressing government business as the reason for his absence. The wedding is set to take place on a small island in the Bahamas, according to CNN.
Trump's Explanation
Speaking to reporters, Trump described the event as a "small private affair" and expressed his desire to attend, but noted that "it's not good timing for me." He elaborated, saying, "I have a thing called Iran and other things." In a subsequent post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: "While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon-to-be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so." He added, "I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time."
Relationship Timeline
Donald Trump Jr. began dating Bettina Anderson sometime in 2024, and the couple became engaged in December 2025. The president announced the engagement at a White House holiday party, revealing that his 47-year-old son was set to marry the 39-year-old socialite. The wedding, which Trump labeled a "no-win" for him due to the conflicting demands of family and office, underscores the challenges of balancing presidential responsibilities with personal commitments.
