Donald Trump has sparked fresh health fears after a celebrity psychic and body-language expert examined footage from one of this week's midterm campaign rallies and described one of his expressions as a "very unusual smile" which could be indicative of "discomfort or pain."
Rallies across three states
Trump rallied on Thursday and Friday ahead of the US Midterm Elections. At rallies in Denton, Texas, and Durant, Oklahoma, the US president delivered lengthy speeches, addressed supporters and posed for photographs.
Trump also held a rally at Mobile's Mitchell Center on Friday, addressing a crowd of around 8,000 supporters. The visit brought him back to the city where he held his first major rally during his 2015 presidential campaign, drawing an estimated 30,000 people to Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
"My heart is in it like never before," Trump said when he spoke at the rally in Denton on Thursday as he vowed to throw himself into the Republican campaign ahead of the November midterm elections.
Expert analysis of the smile
Celebrity psychic and body language expert Inbaal Honigman, speaking via casino.org/canada, analysed footage from Trump's rally in Durant.
She told the Express: "Trump stands still for photographs, flashing a very unusual smile."
"The Leader of the Free World exposes his teeth, but his lips do not curl into the shape of a natural smile. This gives his grin the appearance of a grimace, creating a more strained facial expression."
"The tension in his facial muscles could indicate discomfort or pain."
'Christ pose' and other gestures
Ms Honigman also examined Trump's dramatic entrance onto the stage, describing one of his gestures as a "Christ pose."
She said: "As Trump ambles through the curtains and onto the stage, he appears to expect adoration from the attending fans. Within seconds of appearing, he stops walking and stands still, basking in the perceived veneration of the audience, before performing a surprising gesture."
"The President spreads his arms out to the sides, with his palms facing outwards, in a pose reminiscent of the Son of God. This 'Christ pose' evokes religious imagery associated with moral superiority or martyrdom, suggesting that Donald J. Trump sees himself as a kind of saviour for America, or for the Republican Party during the midterms."
The expert continued: "As he continues his dramatic entrance, Trump points at members of the audience, acknowledging them. This is a gesture of dominance, suggesting that the President sees himself as the most important figure at the rally."
"At the same time, his facial expression resembles what is known as the 'overbite', with his upper teeth biting down on his lower lip."
"Facial expressions involving clenched teeth or a closed mouth can signify a desire to hold something back. However, the overbite gesture has an additional meaning of anticipation and even self-admiration, suggesting that he cannot wait to speak to his crowd."
She also said there were signs of anxiety and uncertainty: "During Trump's speech, his shoulders repeatedly tense, with one rising higher than the other. These raised shoulders indicate anxiety, worry and fear, suggesting that the President is not as confident as he would like to appear."
"The uneven stance, with one shoulder noticeably higher than the other, reveals uncertainty and doubt. Trump is questioning himself."
The president's net approval rating currently stands at -26, down 0.2 points from last week, The Economist reported on Tuesday.
