Trial Delayed for Men Accused of Killing Ian Watkins

The trial of two men accused of murdering Ian Watkins, the former frontman of the band Lostprophets, has been postponed by a day and is now scheduled to begin on Tuesday at Leeds Crown Court.

Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, are charged with the murder of Watkins, who was 48 at the time of his death. Watkins was allegedly killed at HMP Wakefield on October 11, 2025, where he was serving a 29-year sentence for child sex offenses. He had been jailed in December 2013 after being convicted of a series of crimes, including the attempted rape of a fan's baby.

Watkins had a history of incidents while incarcerated. In 2023, he was attacked in prison, and in 2019, he received an additional 10-month sentence for possessing a mobile phone. The trial, which was originally set to start on Monday, has been delayed by one day.
