Euphoria Fans React to Nate Jacobs' Shocking Death: 'Finally Offed the Walking Red Flag'

Fans of HBO's 'Euphoria' have taken to social media to react to the shocking death of Jacob Elordi's character, Nate Jacobs, in the penultimate episode of season three. The controversial character met his end after being buried alive in a coffin by a gangster to whom he owed a million dollars. Although he could breathe through a pipe to the surface, a rattlesnake slithered down the pipe and fatally bit him.

Elordi described the death as a 'cool way to go' but admitted it was 'bittersweet' to leave the series. He noted that Nate had 'made so many mistakes and so many dark choices, so it's cool to see it all come to what it's come to.' However, some fans felt differently, with one saying 'none of his punishments felt satisfying' and another decrying the 'Looney Tunes' level of violence in place of character development.

Others celebrated the demise of the character, with one fan tweeting 'Finally offed the walking red flag. Took you long enough, show still mid tho.' The death came after a season of physical torment for Nate, including having his pinky toe cut and ripped off, and a finger cut. Some viewers expressed disappointment that his potential as an antagonist was wasted, with limited screen time due to Elordi's availability.

Despite the mixed reactions, the new season has been a ratings success for HBO Max. The premiere episode was watched by 8.5 million people, a 44 per cent increase from the season two premiere in 2022. The show's lead actors, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, and Maude Apatow, all returned for the new run.
