Superdry co-founder found guilty of rape

The co-founder of clothing firm Superdry, James Holder, is facing a potential prison sentence after being found guilty today of raping a woman following a night out drinking.

Holder, 54, had returned to the woman's home, used the toilet, and then promptly fell asleep on her bed, snoring loudly. The multi-millionaire fashion executive later woke up and beckoned the woman, who had been attempting to sleep in the lounge, into her bedroom before assaulting her.

Holder had denied charges of assault by penetration and rape, claiming that any sexual activity between them was consensual. However, a jury at Gloucester Crown Court, sitting in Cirencester, acquitted him of assault by penetration but found him guilty of rape.
