Summer Spellman Arrested For Murder On Coronation Street

Summer Spellman has been arrested for the murder of Theo Silverton on Coronation Street. The university student, played by Harriet Bibby, was taken into custody after a witness came forward placing her at the scene of the crime.

Theo, an abusive scaffolder, was killed during the soap's Murder Week. Summer had become aware of his abuse towards Todd Grimshaw and his role in the death of her adoptive father Billy. On Thursday's episode, DS Lisa Swain arrested Summer after George Shuttleworth revealed he saw her heading to Theo's flat on the night of the murder.

Reacting to the arrest, fans expressed shock on social media. One wrote: 'WTF is wrang wi George?! He disnae want tae git Summer intae bother, but he runs tae the polis tae clype on her, based on a private diary he'd nae business readin(?!)' Another commented: 'Personally, I'm glad this got said today. It was harsh, but you can see why a part of Summer would blame Todd for keeping silent.'

Actress Harriet Bibby recently stepped away from the soap to star in a one-woman play and has hinted that her character could be guilty. She said: 'She's such an unexpected suspect in this, but it's also completely understandable why she's a suspect, and so she should be.'

Bibby added that within the story, it could easily have been Summer who ended up dead: 'I think there's a scenario where she might have felt like it was either her that was going to be hurt, or maybe even killed, or it was him.'
