BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent has returned to the show after an extended holiday, much to the delight of fans. The 52-year-old had been off air for several weeks, with Sarah Campbell filling in alongside Jon Kay.
While on holiday in the Maldives, Nugent shared a video of herself walking on a white sandy beach, expressing her excitement about returning to work. Sarah Campbell, who stood in for Nugent, announced her long-awaited return to the BBC show on Monday.
Nugent's absence had sparked concern among viewers, with some questioning whether she had left the show for good. One fan asked on X, formerly known as Twitter: '@BBCBreakfast where is @sallynugent?' Another wrote: '@BBCBreakfast no Sally again? Hope she's not ill.'
Nugent's break from her BBC Breakfast duties came after she took part in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special over the festive period. She partnered with Graziano Di Prima, saying: 'I am thrilled and slightly terrified to be taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.'
The presenter has had a difficult few months, having announced her marriage split from husband Gavin Hawthorn in May after 13 years of marriage. A source told the Daily Mail: 'It's very sad but they are no longer together. They tried to tough it out for quite a while for the sake of their son but they clearly couldn't make a go of it.'
