Reform UK's party conference was accused of rank hypocrisy before it officially began, after deputy leader Richard Tice criticised China while Reform-branded goods made in China were on sale just yards away.
Business day criticised
The conference, the party's biggest yet, does not start properly until Friday, but Wednesday was designated a "business day" to attract donors and lobbyists before rank-and-file members arrive.
Opening proceedings, Tice attacked China and promoted British manufacturing. However, a gift shop set up nearby was selling Reform-branded Chinese goods to supporters over the weekend.
Imported merchandise on sale
The stall also stocked goods from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, with only a handful of items, including a tea towel, carrying a "made in UK" label.
The Mirror, which reported the story, said the situation mirrored Nigel Farage's frequenting of private members' clubs, and argued it was another lesson in paying attention to what Reform UK does rather than what it says.
