Vanity Fair's Olivia Nuzzi Faces Axe Over RFK Jr. Sabotage Claims
Olivia Nuzzi's Vanity Fair job under threat: report

Olivia Nuzzi, the political journalist hired by Vanity Fair just months ago, is reportedly on the brink of losing her position following fresh allegations concerning her conduct during the last election cycle.

Allegations of Campaign Interference

According to insider reports, executives at the prestigious magazine are likely to allow Nuzzi's temporary contract to expire. This follows an explosive Substack post published last week by her ex-fiancé, fellow reporter Ryan Lizza. He claimed that Nuzzi had secretly worked to aid the presidential campaign of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. while she was ostensibly reporting on the election.

Lizza alleged that Nuzzi actively worked to "kill off damaging stories" about Kennedy, with whom she was reportedly having an undisclosed affair at the time. These claims have reportedly disturbed senior figures at Condé Nast, Vanity Fair's publisher.

A Rocky Comeback Attempt

Nuzzi's hiring in September 2025 was positioned as a major comeback. She had famously parted ways with New York magazine the previous year over the alleged affair with the much older Kennedy. Her appointment as West Coast editor was accompanied by a glossy profile in The New York Times promoting her forthcoming memoir, American Canto.

However, sources now suggest her tenure has been troubled. One insider told Page Six that Nuzzi had never attended a meeting or even collected her company laptop. "It looks like they are getting rid of her," the source stated. Two Condé Nast executives separately told Semafor Media that magazine bosses were unlikely to renew her contract, though no final decision has been confirmed.

A History of Personal and Professional Entanglements

The controversy is the latest chapter in a protracted and bitter feud between Nuzzi and Lizza. The couple, who got engaged in 2022, have been locked in legal battles since their split. Nuzzi has previously accused Lizza of hacking her devices and seeking to blackmail her, though she later dropped a request for a restraining order.

Lizza, who was fired from The New Yorker in 2017 over alleged sexual misconduct, also accused Nuzzi of having an affair with Republican politician Mark Sanford while covering his campaigns. Nuzzi's memoir itself contains sensational claims, including that Kennedy wanted her to have his baby and that he regularly uses psychedelic drugs.

Vanity Fair has stated it is "looking at all the facts" in the wake of Lizza's initial allegations. The Independent has contacted both Vanity Fair and Nuzzi's lawyer, Ari Wilkenfeld, for comment on the latest reports regarding her employment future.
