Nicola Peltz, the wife of Brooklyn Beckham, has reportedly ended her legal action against the dog groomers she held responsible for the death of her beloved pet Chihuahua, Nala. The 31-year-old heiress was devastated when Nala passed away two years ago at the age of nine, just two hours after a grooming session by HoundSpa employee Jony Ceballos.
Lawsuit Discontinued
Peltz had filed a lawsuit against Ceballos, HoundSpa LLC, and company owner Deborah Gittleman in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Westchester. The legal documents alleged that Nala's death resulted from what she described as 'intentional and malicious abuse of dogs' by Ceballos. However, documents signed earlier this month indicate that all parties have agreed to permanently discontinue the lawsuit without paying costs, expenses, or legal fees to each other.
Anthony J Siano, the lawyer for HoundSpa and Gittleman, told the Mail: 'The civil litigation involving the passing of Ms Peltz Beckham's dog, Nala, has been discontinued. All parties to that civil action have exchanged extensive documentation and all parties concluded that the death of Nala was not intentional. All persons involved in the matter share the grief and disappointment that comes from the passing of Nala.'
Allegations and Denials
In the lawsuit, Peltz claimed that Nala 'went into the grooming van, a happy, healthy dog, but returned injured and in severe physical distress - breathing heavily and wheezing, with her chest pulsating. Nala's tongue was blue, she had fluid in her lungs, and she suffered neurological damage.' Ceballos denied all allegations, with his lawyers arguing that the lawsuit failed 'to state a cause of action' and that Peltz 'failed to perform as contractually provided.' They also alleged she was 'liable for her comparative negligence.'
Public Grief
In 2024, Peltz shared her heartbreak on Instagram, describing Nala's death as 'the hardest month of my life.' She added: 'I can't even find the words to describe my heartbreak on so many levels. Her life was taken away from her way too soon. She was my beautiful queen and stayed by my side for 9 years through everything.' The Mirror has contacted Peltz's representatives for further comment.
