Meghan Markle reportedly made a bizarre complaint at a free retreat before she met Prince Harry, according to a claim from a Daily Mail columnist. The Duchess of Sussex, now 45, was invited to Soho House club in Istanbul in 2015 to celebrate its opening, alongside other A-listers such as Paloma Faith.
At the time, Meghan was already well-known for her role on the TV drama Suits, which meant she often mingled with celebrities. The A-listers were given a free stay at the hotel, as well as a goodie bag, according to the Daily Mail's columnist Sarah Vine.
Complaint Over Goodie Bag Quality
One guest reportedly saw Meghan complaining about the goodie bag, which she felt was insufficient. Vine wrote: "My friend couldn't quite catch the details, but the general gist seemed to be that she (Meghan) was unhappy with the quality of her goodie bag, which she felt was insufficiently lavish in its largesse."
Vine added: "My friend remembers thinking, 'Wow, it takes quite some chutzpah to complain about a free gift at a free weekend in a five-star hotel full of A-listers.' At the time, he had no idea who the angry American was – nor, he recalls, did anyone else in his group."
Timeline of Royal Relationship
The event was held in 2015, the year before Harry and Meghan started dating. The couple got engaged in 2017 and married in 2018. They welcomed their first child, Prince Archie, in 2019, followed by Princess Lilibet in 2021.
