An investigation is underway after a video surfaced showing a McDonald's employee in Southbridge, Massachusetts, putting fries in her mouth and then placing them into a box for a customer. The footage, which went viral last week, captures the worker taking a fistful of fries, putting them in her mouth, and then adding them to the iconic red fry box while a colleague laughs.
Local residents expressed disgust. 'I think it’s crazy that people are messing with other people’s food,' one told Boston 25 News. Another said, 'I’m done with this McDonald’s, at least, and I might be done for quite a while with fast food.'
The Southbridge Police Department confirmed it is investigating the incident alongside health officials and restaurant management. 'We are also working to determine whether the food was ultimately served to a customer and to identify any individual who may have been affected,' the department said in a statement.
The owners of the Southbridge McDonald’s, the Spadea and Balducci family, condemned the actions. 'The actions of these individuals are unacceptable and do not reflect our organization’s food safety standards or values,' they said in a statement, adding that they are conducting an internal review and cooperating with authorities. The health department found no public health concerns or violations.
