An investigation is underway after a horrifying video circulated on social media, appearing to show a McDonald's worker putting fries in her mouth and then adding them to a box for a customer. The incident occurred at a McDonald's in Southbridge, Massachusetts.
Viral Video Sparks Outrage
The video, which went viral last week, shows the worker taking a fistful of salty fries, shoving them into her mouth, and then placing them into the iconic red fry box. A co-worker is seen laughing while holding the box. Local residents expressed shock and disgust. "I think it's crazy that people are messing with other people's food," one local told Boston 25 News. "I thought it was disgusting, honestly."
Police Investigation
The Southbridge Police Department released a statement acknowledging the video and confirming they are investigating alongside health officials and restaurant management. "We are also working to determine whether the food was ultimately served to a customer and to identify any individual who may have been affected," the statement said. Authorities noted the community's concern, with another resident stating, "I'm done with this McDonald's, at least, and I might be done for quite a while with fast food."
Restaurant Owners Respond
The Spadea and Balducci family, owners and operators of the Southbridge McDonald's, condemned the actions. "The actions of these individuals are unacceptable and do not reflect our organization's food safety standards or values," they said in a statement. "We are conducting an internal review and proactively working with local authorities and the health department, who found no public health concerns or violations. The well-being and safety of our Southbridge community remains our top priority, and we are taking swift, appropriate actions."
