Niall Aslam has left the Love Island villa for personal reasons, a spokesperson for the show has confirmed. The 23-year-old construction worker departed suddenly on Tuesday, leaving his fellow islanders, including his partner Georgia Steel, in shock.
The news was announced to the group by Dr Alex George, who read a statement explaining that Niall could not continue or return to the villa. Georgia, visibly upset, said in the Beach Hut: 'Obviously I was coupled up with him so obviously I came closer to him than most people in here but it wasn’t just that.'
Dr Alex expressed his sadness, calling Niall a 'great guy' and saying he looked forward to catching up with him outside the villa. Fans also reacted with disappointment on social media, with many expressing their dismay at his exit.
Niall was the first boy to enter this year's villa and initially coupled up with Kendall Rae-Knight, who was later dumped from the show. He then formed a bond with Georgia Steel before his sudden departure.
