Liam Gallagher has reignited his feud with Coronation Street star Charlie Lawson in a foul-mouthed spat on social media. The Mancunian rocker branded the Jim McDonald actor a “silly old c***” after he said Oasis were “distinctively average”.
Gallagher hits back at Lawson's criticism
The Wonderwall singer hit back, saying: “Like your f****** acting skills.” When a fan asked what Lawson had appeared in, Liam said: “Actor in his f****** dreams.”
When another joked he was “going for everyone today,” the Oasis frontman said: “He’s had it coming for a long time, silly old c***.” The 67-year-old Northern Irish actor, who played Cobbles hardman Jim for 37 years, hit back at Liam: “Hello darling??!! You still takin’ a line in town?!”

The unlikely sparring partners stunned social media users with the exchange of blows. One fan wrote: “Liam Gallagher and Jim McDonald going at it on the timeline. Sometimes, you remember why you love this platform.”
Another joked: “Liam missed the opportunity by not saying 'so it is' at the end of his tweet.“ Another quipped: “Don’t look back in anger, so you shouldn’t. Cheerio now!“ Someone else said: “Babe wake up! Liam Gallagher just called Charlie Lawson a silly old c*** on the Twitter.“
The feud's long history
Their beef dates back decades. Charlie blasted Liam in a social media rant in 2019, branding him a w******. He said he was an “awful advert for Manchester”, adding: “Met him in the 90s. Average human being, man!”
Charlie’s character Jim was killed off earlier this year by Corrie bosses. He died off-screen after viewers saw his son Steve told he had been taken ill in Australia. The outspoken actor retweeted a string of messages from fans horrified at his low-key exit back in March. One wrote: "All because @charlie_lawson1 spoke out about how ITV are ruining the show...It's completely disrespectful to Charlie."
Another said: "Just read their killing off big Jim!!! You should be going back in!! These soaps are just full of wet wipes these days!! So they are!!" Jim arrived in Corrie in 1989 and was last seen on screen in 2018.
