Leavitt, 28, cited a desire to spend more time with her family, including her two children, as her primary reason for leaving the role she held for over a year and a half.

In an extensive post on X, Leavitt stated her motivation for stepping down. Trump also acknowledged her departure on Truth Social, confirming the decision was made so she could dedicate more time to her family. However, Wolff suggested additional factors, including intense scrutiny of her performance from both the press and Trump himself.
The Telegraph reported Wolff's observations on the strain Leavitt experienced, noting that Trump monitored her briefings and provided feedback on her handling of questions. Wolff said: "This is a hard job. People burn out. He's an extremely difficult boss, right? I'm sure that's one of the reasons that she has had enough." He added: "Remember, when she is speaking to the press he is watching her speaking to the press, and then immediately calling her up to criticise how she's spoken to the press."
