Kelvin Fletcher Opens Up About Marriage Struggles and Sheep Farming
Kelvin Fletcher on Marriage and Sheep Farming Challenges

Kelvin Fletcher has given a candid insight into his marriage to wife Liz and the challenges they face running their Cheshire farm. The former Emmerdale star admitted that while there are "good and bad days," the couple's attempts to gather sheep often lead to arguments that "nearly end up in divorce."

Sheep Gathering Struggles

In a repeat episode of Fletcher's Family Farm, Kelvin explained the difficulty of rounding up their flock. "We have got to round all of the sheep up just to get the two that we need [for slaughter]," he said. Liz added, "Rounding sheep never gets easier; you just lose patience." Kelvin elaborated, "We have good days and bad days. Sometimes I come in, it takes me five or ten minutes, and they go exactly where I want them to go; other days, they are not playing ball." He joked, "When dealing with sheep with your partner, we have an argument, and it nearly ends up in divorce, so it's just ticking all those boxes. We have started on a good foot today." Liz chimed in, "We are just typical farmers now, rowing about sheep."

A Bittersweet Milestone

Despite the disagreements, the couple successfully loaded the two sheep for slaughter. Kelvin reflected on the emotional moment: "These will be the first two livestock we have witnessed being born, reared ourselves, and sent to market. We have seen the whole process. It is quite rewarding, actually."

Heartbreaking Decision for Pet Lamb

In another emotional moment, Kelvin and Liz made the difficult decision to send their pet lamb, Aga, to join the rest of the flock. Kelvin said, "It's the right thing for him, but a day we've all been dreading." As they walked Aga to the top field, he added, "Our Aga is more like a dog than a sheep, and we've all become very attached to the little guy." Their daughter Marnie said goodbye, and Kelvin noted, "She's gutted... She's going to be upset, isn't she?" Despite the financial implications, Kelvin concluded, "That may not have been the most profitable decision I have made today, but family comes first."

Fletcher's Family Farm is available to watch on ITVX.
