Prince Harry is said to be expecting an apology from his family, but royal expert Robert Hardman has dealt him a blow by revealing he does not believe Prince William will offer one.
Harry and Meghan Markle moved to the UK this week, choosing a residence in the Cotswolds and sending their children Archie and Lilibet to a local school. Reports have circulated that the couple are keen to make amends with the royal family, but a source close to them has told the Daily Mail that Harry expects an apology.
Source reveals Harry's mindset
The source said: "Friends who caught up with Harry were expecting to hear noises of contrition and humility. Instead, there will be no imminent mea culpa from Harry by the sounds of things. Far from it, in fact. He is still in that Oprah mindset."
"They were agog to hear he still feels angry with members of the Royal Family, is still frustrated by the "men in grey suits" who surround his father, and still expects an apology."
Expert's response on GB News
Camilla Tominey said on GB News: "But it seems that some of the same old tunes are being played in a rented property somewhere, possibly in the Cotswolds. It's like a groundhog day, isn't it? I mean, my goodness me, and I had read the other week that Harry had vowed not to share any secrets, any family secrets, and that they were going to go quietly into that good night, but clearly not. Do they, do they have any incentive at all, the King, Queen Camilla, William and Kate to apologise, Robert?"
Hardman replied: "No, I don't think any apologies will be forthcoming. I mean, clearly, by coming back, the couple are looking for some sort of rapprochement, some sort of bridge-building exercise, notably with the King. I think it's less likely to happen with William for various reasons. But that's not going to happen if Harry wants to start reopening old wounds."
No apologies expected
Hardman added: "I mean, I think, you know, despite these reports, I think he will be savvy enough to know that, you know, if he wants to start having regular chats and meetings and seeing more of his father, then the couple have to move on. We can't be start unpicking the events of seven years ago."
