The Guardian has issued a strong defence of its documentary NAZA and the journalists behind it, following what it described as an authoritarian response in Israel.
A spokesperson for Guardian News & Media said the organisation was “disturbed to see the authoritarian response to NAZA in Israel”.
Journalists targeted
Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, the journalists and filmmakers behind the project, have faced attacks from people who have not yet seen the film, the spokesperson said.
“Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor are brave journalists and filmmakers. The attacks against them come from people who have not yet seen the film,” the statement read.
Investigative basis
NAZA is based on more than three years of investigative journalism. The Guardian maintains that the testimonies it contains are true and deserve to be heard, with interviews given by confidential journalistic sources.
“We will robustly defend NAZA – and the team behind it – from any attacks or attempts at censorship,” the spokesperson added.
