GB News was halted by presenter Ben Leo in the early hours of Monday morning as he announced that US President Donald Trump has accused the BBC of harassing his family. The presenter said it is the latest saga in his "war" against the broadcaster and his $10 billion Panorama lawsuit.
Subpoena attempt
Attorneys for the BBC claim that they have tried to subpoena his children - Donald Trump Jr, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner - to testify and give evidence in the case. Mr Trump's legal team has since accused the BBC of "abusing the deposition process".
A spokesperson told the corporation: "The BBC intentionally defamed President Donald J. Trump, and now the BBC is seeking to harass him, his family, and supporters by abusing the deposition process. The BBC is simply trying to distract away from their own obvious liability."
Reaction from viewers
Fans of the news channel were quick to comment on the report, with many in support of the US leader. One said: "Give the BBC hell, Donald! Great Britain will thank you for it!"
Another added: "There's no squirming out of this one @BBC." However, others didn't agree.
"His family run his businesses, why shouldn't the BBC lawyers subpoena them?" one asked. "And pleeeaaaasssse his 'children' they are all grown up and married."
