Coronation Street Fans Suspect Someone Else Attacked Carl, Not Ronnie
Fans Suspect Someone Else Attacked Carl on Coronation Street

Coronation Street fans have been left speculating about who truly attacked Carl Webster after Tuesday’s episode left him seriously injured. While Ronnie Bailey appeared to be the culprit, viewers are not convinced.

Carl’s Comeuppance

Carl faced a brutal comeuppance on Tuesday as his latest actions against his family backfired. Ronnie Bailey was seen driving a lifeless Carl out of the street, seemingly being the one that injured him moments earlier.

Carl had been in Kevin Webster’s garage and while very drunk, he decided to target his brother once more. Tampering with a car that was being worked on, he loosened some of the screws or parts of either the vehicle itself, or whatever it was resting on.

Suddenly an unknown figure walked towards the car, before causing it to crash down on top of Carl’s body. As Carl gasped he was clearly not in a good way, before we later saw him in the back of a car.

Ronnie’s Role Questioned

As Carl tried to breathe, he told Ronnie he needed to go to the hospital. Ronnie told Carl: “It’s not often you get a second chance. I don’t make the same mistake twice.”

It’s yet to be revealed if Carl dies and if Ronnie has killed him, but what if it wasn’t Ronnie? Of course his comments about not making the same mistake twice, and him driving off with Carl, do seem to confirm he is the culprit of what happened to Carl.

But we have been warned to expect many twists and turns in the episodes. It’s only Tuesday, meaning there’s still more episodes to air and more details to be revealed, including Carl’s fate.

Alternative Suspects

So what if we’ve been led to believe it was all Ronnie, but actually he’s covering for someone else? Did someone else attack Carl, and is Ronnie simply disposing of any evidence and covering up someone’s crime?

If yes, it could be Debbie Webster, amid fans predicting she will kill her son Carl. Then there’s Abi Franklin who made it clear she wanted Carl gone after he tore apart her marriage to Kevin.

Then there is Kevin himself, so might he have done something? This was questioned by a fan who said: “Has anyone thought it might not have been Ronnie that did that to Carl? I know he was in the van but we didn’t see the person in the garage.”

What’s Next for Carl?

We will just have to wait and see when the full events play out. It comes as Carl actor Jonathan Howard told The Mirror where he would like things to go next for Carl “if he survives” the week.

He shared: “If Carl survives I think everything he is gonna go through this week will be life-changing for him. If he dies, the Websters, or most of them, are gonna be mixed emotions. If he survives then hopefully he has the chance to redeem himself a little bit.”

Asked if he’d like Carl to change if he lives, Jonathan confessed: “As long as he can still be an annoying little brat. If he didn’t lose that I’d be happy to have a bit of humility.”

On a possible exit, he went on: “I’d be very grateful for the time I have had here. I feel very lucky to play the part I’ve done. He is so much fun to play. It’s much better to do that stuff in-character than in real life!”

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
