Emmerdale fans saw the tables turn on Dawn Fletcher in Tuesday's episode (May 19), as her fiancé Joe Tate and his loyal right-hand man Graham Foster secretly plotted against her. While Dawn doubled down on her plans to scam money out of Joe, she remained unaware that he had already rumbled her ongoing deception.
In the episode, Dawn wrestled with her conscience after glimpsing Joe's caring side. When Joe made an effort to welcome her ex-partner Billy back into the family and treated her to a thoughtful gift, she reluctantly conceded that he wasn't all bad. Dawn confided in Moira Dingle about questioning her plans, and Moira suggested she might be better off fleeing with the kids sooner rather than later. However, after more thought, Dawn vowed to win their battle and take Joe for every penny.
Sadly for Dawn, she hadn't counted on how closely Joe and Graham were watching her. Her secret visits to Moira at Wishing Well Cottage had not gone unnoticed. In a private moment at Home Farm, Graham told Joe: 'Very convincing. I had no idea Dawn was such an accomplished liar. She doesn't have a clue we know what she's planning behind our backs.' While Joe seemed prepared to bide his time, Graham feared he was causing himself more heartbreak. 'You can't keep doing this to yourself,' Graham added. 'Don't wait too long. We can't let this go on any further. We need to deal with Dawn – put a stop to her and Moira's little game, for good…'
Scenes airing later this week see Dawn left unconscious at the bottom of the stairs at Home Farm. Graham is first to spot her in a bad way, then notices Joe lurking suspiciously at the top of the staircase. Has Joe taken his advice too literally? And will Dawn pay the ultimate price for her desperate scheming?
