The shortlist for this year's British Soap Awards has been announced, with EastEnders and Emmerdale leading the pack with 13 nominations each. The ceremony returns live to ITV in June after a two-year hiatus, taking place at the Hackney Empire in London. Phillip Schofield will host the event, which will feature 14 awards voted on by the public or a panel of expert judges.

Coronation Street follows closely with 12 nominations, while Hollyoaks received 11 and Doctors garnered 9. The awards will celebrate the past year's dramatic storylines, including murder, mystery, and emotional trials across the five major soaps.

Notable nominations include EastEnders' Lacey Turner and Gillian Wright for Best On-Screen Partnership, and Emmerdale's Paige Sandhu (Meena Jutla) in the Best Leading Performer category. The Outstanding Achievement Award and the Tony Warren Award will be announced on the night.
