Dawn Taylor's departure from Emmerdale appears to have been set in motion following a dramatic confrontation with Joe Tate. The character, played by Olivia Bromley, is reportedly leaving the show after eight years, with final scenes to be filmed later this year.
In Thursday's episode, Dawn finally saw Joe's true colours after Moira Dingle exposed his role in framing her for a crime. Pregnant Dawn confronted Joe, who denied everything, but after hearing the full truth from Moira, she realised she could no longer trust him.
Dawn later met secretly with Moira and Cain Dingle, tearfully confessing she wanted to make Joe pay. She admitted she had considered leaving the village with her children but feared Joe would track them down because of the baby's Tate lineage.
Moira advised Dawn to pretend nothing had changed and to be ruthless, suggesting they could make Joe lose everything. Dawn vowed she was done with Joe and committed to revenge, with Moira predicting Joe's downfall would come sooner than expected.
The scenes strongly hint that Dawn's exit will be linked to her plot against Joe, potentially fleeing after taking his money or facing a grim fate. Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
