Coronation Street newcomer Idris Nazir will arrive next week with a hidden connection to another new face, Damo, as revealed in upcoming scenes. While Alya Nazir is thrilled to be reunited with her cousin Idris, he keeps his link to Damo a secret.
In the episode, Brody Michaelis works a temp shift at Speed Daal when rowdy businessmen cause trouble, dropping a plate of curry on his trainers. Idris intervenes, demanding cash for the ruined trainers and kicking the men out, playing the hero. Alya rushes to greet him, but later Idris is seen bumping into Damo and steering him into a ginnel for a private chat.
Fans are divided over Idris's arrival. One fan said: 'About time Alya had another relation on the Street.' Another expressed hope: 'Looking forward to seeing what Idris brings to the show, hopefully he's a nice character.' However, others feared he would be a villain, with comments like 'PLEASE don't make it drugs related!' and 'Not another gangster!'
Actor Junade Khan, who plays Idris, described his character as 'multi-layered and incredibly ambitious,' adding: 'As a child, he suffered a lot of hardship and neglect... He's a lone wolf - the black sheep of the family who has made a name for himself.'
