Coronation Street: Tyrone's Caller Revealed as Ronnie Bailey

Coronation Street's latest episode on Friday, airing tonight on ITV1, has confirmed who Tyrone Dobbs was secretly speaking to on the phone and what he has been hiding. Fans are expressing their anger over the twist.

Mystery Caller Revealed

The character was seen keeping something from everyone in a recent flashback. Summer Spellman has been charged with Theo Silverton's murder, despite protesting her innocence. She told DS Lisa Swain that Tyrone saw her on the night Theo died and that Theo was alive at the time. However, Tyrone denied seeing Summer, but a flashback confirmed she was telling the truth. Tyrone has been lying, and throughout the week he appeared guilty, with Thursday's episode confirming he was in cahoots with someone.

Speaking on the phone, Tyrone was heard saying about Summer: "We're putting her through hell. No, we need to meet up soon, and we need to talk about what happened on the night Theo died." Friday's episode revealed the identity of the person on the other end: Ronnie Bailey.

What Happened on the Night Theo Died

The episode showed Tyrone meeting Ronnie, where it was confirmed what had been covered up. Ronnie encouraged Tyrone to keep the secret rather than help Summer. Tyrone was adamant they had to tell the police, but Ronnie refused. A flashback revealed that on the night Theo died, Tyrone accidentally dropped a car on Carl, injuring him, not Ronnie as initially thought. Fans may recall Carl was trapped under a car at the garage. Ronnie arrived and told Tyrone to flee, promising to handle it. Tyrone then left for Underworld, where Lisa and Carla's wedding reception was taking place. That is when Summer saw Tyrone, and he saw her and Theo in the window. Tyrone does not want to reveal this as it would implicate him in the accident.

Fan Reactions

Fans have taken to social media to express their fury. One fan said: "There is no valid reason Tyrone is letting Summer rot." Another agreed: "Tyrone should be ashamed of himself. He knows Summer is innocent, yet chooses to stay quiet." A third added: "Very disappointed in Ronnie here! He's always been one of the good guys on the street, how can he let Summer be thrown under the bus like this?" Another post read: "Yes, Tyrone, squirm in your immense guilt for letting Summer wallow in prison for a crime she didn't commit." A final fan said: "Ronnie having zero empathy for Summer when Debbie went through the exact same thing? Shame on you Ronald Bailey!"

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
