Coronation Street viewers are speculating that Theo Silverton's ex-wife, Danielle, may be his killer, as the ITV soap's latest whodunnit storyline unfolds. Theo, played by James Cartwright, was found dead during last month's 'Murder Week', and an official list of suspects has been released.
Fans on Reddit have pointed out that Danielle, portrayed by Natalie Anderson, has appeared in fewer than 20 episodes, drawing comparisons to the 2012 'Who killed Frank Foster?' plot. In that storyline, the culprit was a character introduced shortly before the reveal, leading some to call a similar outcome 'the biggest cop out'.
The suspects include Todd Grimshaw, Theo's abusive husband; Christina Boyd; Summer Spellman; Gary Windass; and George Shuttleworth. This week, undertaker George becomes the first to be arrested after his wife Christina finds bloodstains on his jumper from the night of Theo's death.
ITV has teased that the pressure will mount as the hunt for the killer intensifies, with Todd, George, and Gary facing interrogations first, followed by Summer, Christina, and Danielle in subsequent weeks. Actor James Cartwright described his character's death as necessary for justice, calling his time on the show a 'great joy and privilege'.
